The fellowship of the 2x4

These are the mostly beautiful (well 2 of them are) team for working in the summer at New Wine Shepton Mallet and Soul Survivor B&C.

Andru is a youth worker from Sheffield, this will be his first week as part of the fellowship of the 2x4 - he is going to be working Soul Survivor week C - Andru, also known as Anj is responsible for all things innapropriate and humerous.

Robin thinks he runs things, but really - he doesnt have a clue...he is married to Ally and they have an abnormally beautiful son called Nathaniel. Robin is responsible for all the design and print of all the quality product that you see in the Saccloth Anashes range, we are still trying to find out who makes the other stuff.

Contrary to the impression given by the image above, Toby, is intelligent, he has worked 3 Summers for Saccloth Anashes and been around since the begining of PureWord Jewellery, without Toby no-one really knows anything. He is also the most rugged looking of all the fellowship - He will often be found on the stand surrounded by a group of giggling teenagers - as white as a sheet, terrified.

Julian is a legend and his reputation proceeds him... you will find him playing guitar in Club one at New Wine A, working tirelessly in the weeks leading up to the festivals, he is everywhere all the time. Julian is the only one on team with 2 degrees... and no job...oh sorry... he is a proffessional musician - my mistake. Julian has been involved with Saccloth Anashes for 4 years now...he's a veteran.

Sophie is definately the better half of Toby, but thats not all she is good at...

Ally is the rock (large diamond) of the three in her family, an accomplished jewellery designer and silversmith, Ally is responsible for all the shiny stuff in PureWord Jewellery. If it were up to her, she would sit at her jewellery workbench all day designing, making, designing, making...fortunately we managed to convince her to come out and join the fellowship...

Sophie is a youth worker in Devon and Salisbury from next year and is studying youth working...and stuff...and things, the truth is we actually think she works for a secret government agency and we can't say any more.

Everyone on team have been invaluable partners of Saccloth Anashes and PureWord and it has to be said that neither would be what they are if it were not for all the help and support that we have had over the years...Thank you so much.

An honest appraisal, back to the drawing board

So we wanted to update you all on what was going on with the Brand...to say the least we have been rubbish at keeping in contact with you all, so this is my attempt to redeem ourselves!!

Over the past year or so I have had to do some real soul searching...

One of the problems most of you probably faced when being introduced to Saccloth Anashes was how complicated it is....

Is it clothing? Is it a ministry? Is it working? Where does the money go? What does it say?! What on earth does it mean? Who is it for?

Something that has been really key from the beginning is that the message of Saccloth Anashes is an integral part of the brand and Company ethos, so when we have been trying to answer the above questions we have always used the "message" to explain and answer them - clothing has always been secondary to the "vision" - thats all great - BUT they are actually as important as each other...Let me explain.

We all know that prayer is the underpinning structure in our relationship with God, if we dont talk to God, not alot happens. Since the beginning we have been and will continue to promote a message of prayer and personal relationship with Jesus as the answer to the world's problems.

But for so long I have felt like I am only delivering part of the solution l have felt guilty for not being able to provide the support, help and resources for Christians who "buy in" and support us... the truth is we are, the clothing acts as a reminder and on some levels it re-affirms what God has called all of us to do...grow the little bit of his Kingdom that you have at your fingertips...you start that by hanging out with him...by "abiding in him", It is impossible to do so otherwise!!

So to answer some of your questions:

Is it Clothing? - Yes
Is it a Ministry? - Yes, I suppose that depends on your definition of ministry
Is it working? - Yes, Can it work better? Definitely
Where does the money go? - At the moment it is self supporting nothing is taken out.
What does it say? - Sack Cloth and Ashes
What does it mean? - Click here to find out more...
Who is it for? - People who believe this with their lifestyle: We Pray... God Moves.

I have had to ask, are we still on track or have I strayed from the path we were meant to take?...I have to say yes we are still on the same track... we will continue to support and encourage, and we will be more and more creative in the ways that we offer it.

Ultimately though the responsibility lies with you...when you pray, you will change and God will move... do it!
